If you are planning a weekend break or holiday, then the chances are you would like to find out more about the Weather in Prague.
The Weather in Prague does vary greatly over the course of twelve months. Winters can be very snowy with sub-zero temperatures, while summers are usually hot with big thunderstorms often rolling in to the city from the west.
Temperatures during the winter average just below zero and can fall as low as minus 20. Many days are dry and this is a time when Prague, covered in snow, truly takes on the appearance of a magical fairytale kingdom. In the summer months, particularly during July and August, it is not unusual for day time temperatures of +30 Degrees Celsius or even higher. Several days of warm high pressure often end with big thunderstorms and not insignificant amounts of rain, but the beauty of this is that the city air becomes much cleaner again and the flora and fauna in and around the city is able to retain its stunning radiance.
One of the delights of Praha is that the city experiences four distinct seasons. These four big shifts in climate add yet more character to one of the most beautiful and charismatic cities on the entire planet.
Spring time brings milder temperatures from April onwards, and by the beginning of May whole swathes of Prague seem to be covered by blooming flowers, with the sound of birdsong filling the air. You are likely to do plenty of Sightseeing, Cultural Tours and general walking around at this time of the year, so remember to bring a pair of decent boots with you as well as an umbrella.
Autumn sets in around September, and is characterised by misty mornings, as is often witnessed on the Charles Bridge as it is consumed by an almost otherworldly cloud of mist as the sun slowly rises in the east.
Although, typically, Prague does not get as cold as some of Out There's other destinations such as Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, we do advise you to take plenty of decent winter clothes with you if you are planning to visit the Czech Republic between mid-November and the end of March. It might also be worth you taking some smart clothes, such as a shirt, trousers or a dress, with you if you are planning to enjoy one of the numerous operas, theatre productions or classical music performances that run during the winter months.
Although Prague doesn't see quite the same number of plus thirty degree days as Excursions and Activities that Prague is so famous for.
